George Muscat is a Professorial Research, and Vice Chancellor’s Fellow at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, The University of Queensland, and an affiliate of the School of Biomedical Sciences. He completed his undergraduate and graduate training at the University of Sydney. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University, CA. (1985-88), and an Assistant Professor of Research at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles (1989). He joined UQ in 1990. He is a member of the editorial boards of Endocrinology, and Molecular Endocrinology, and joined the NHMRC Academy in 2012.  His research focuses on understanding the functional role (and mechanism of action) of Nuclear Hormone Receptors and coregulators in metabolism and cancer in transgenic mouse models to gain translational insights into obesity,  type II diabetes, and breast cancer.
