Hilton Shapiro

Dr. Shapiro qualified in South Africa in 1973 (M. B. Ch B., University of Cape Town.). He has worked in general practice in Australia since 1979. He currently works as a full-time solo GP in Mascot, Sydney, and has been in this practice since 1982. 
Dr. Shapiro has a special interest in Paediatrics and Child Health, having obtained a Diploma of Child Health (DCH) in South Africa in 1977. His other medical interests are diabetes management in general practice, Occupational Medicine and asthma. Apart from his commitment to the practice, Dr. Shapiro was actively involved in the affairs and projects of the South Eastern Sydney Division of General Practice (SESDGP) from 1994, and is one of the founding members of the Eastern Sydney Area Health Service Immunisation Advisory Committee.
He was a Board Member of the South Eastern Sydney Division of General Practice from 1995 to 2012. His position on that board included being Chairman/President of the board (July 1997 to September 2001) and Vice president (October 2001 to June 2012). He is currently a director of the Board of the Eastern Sydney Medicare Local. 
From 2008 until the present he has been a member of a multidisciplinary advisory board to a leading International Pharmaceutical Company. In addition he was chairperson of this board from 2008 until 2010 .
