John Mercer completed his Masters in Psychology at Monash University in 2002. He has significant experience working with adolescents in a variety of professional roles including Child Protection, Juvenile Justice and Residential Care programs. He has been a registered practicing Psychologist and Member of the Australian Psychological Society for eleven years, and is currently a Behavioural Health Consultant in the Public Health system in Tasmania, where he works with people with chronic medical conditions who suffer psychologically as a result. He has worked with the many and varied difficulties faced by Diabetes patients from across the lifespan since 2006, and encounters the challenging combination of adolescence and condition-specific behavioural demands frequently. He also provides training and consultancy to a wide variety of medical specialists and generalists on the psychological aspects of managing patients with chronic conditions. His professional background spans a variety of complex co-morbid client populations, and he has an extensive history developing and delivering psychological programs.
