Yea Hospital and National Association of Diabetes Centres, VIC

Natalie Wischer, RN, BN, RM, CDE, Grad Dip Mgmt, Grad Cert Diab Ed.

Natalie has been working as a diabetes educator for the last 13 years and her interest in this area stemmed from working 3 years in some of the most remote Aboriginal communities in the country.

Natalie is currently working on several projects including managing acute, residential aged care, community health and the Quality and Risk portfolios and provides diabetes education across all these areas at Yea Hospital.

Natalie is also the Project Manager for the National Association of Diabetes Centres and is also consulting on a number of tele-health and technology initiatives in the care of people with diabetes. She is also a former ADEA board member and NADC steering committee representative.

In combing her passions for technology and care of people with diabetes, she has established her own company, Australian Diabetes Online Services. Her business provides diabetes self management, education and support to people with diabetes and capitalises on the plethora of resources available in the broader eHealth environment. She has recently returned from presenting at the Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Diabetes meeting in Paris and attending the diabetes in pregnancy meeting in Florence, both of which have further inspired her work in this area.

Natalie’s personal goal for 2013 is to complete her second half marathon in October.
