Dr Peter Croll is a research leader in Health Informatics with over 30 years’ experience in ICT serving both industry and academia. He has held professorships at four Australian Universities, and led research groups focussing on Trustworthy IT systems for eHealth. In 2006, he was awarded a prestigious National Fellowship to support CSIRO’s Flagship on Preventative Health to investigate the privacy and security risks associated with electronic health data integration.

Dr Croll is a past Board Director and Vice President of the Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) Ltd. and a past Board Director for the International Association for Privacy Professionals ANZ. He currently chairs the International Medical Informatics Associations Working Group on ‘Security in Health Information’; the national forums for HIPS and ehPASS that focus on Health Informatics Privacy and Security. He has been actively involved with the recent Privacy law reforms as a member of the technical committee for the Australian Law Reform Commission’s review of the Federal Privacy Act, the amendments of which will come into force in March 2014.

Dr Croll established and directs a specialist consultancy company (PeterCroll.com) to provide ICT expertise for eHealth products and services. He has been appointed as a funded consultant with federal and state governments, local councils, academia and private industry.
